SpaceTime beta 9 is free for downloading. Once installed and launched, you can access to the opening screen which has a calm summer sky with some wispy clouds floating background. You can then type in a URL into the address field to look for the sites that you want. The sites windows will pop up and arrange themselves in a sort of 3D parade. Users can thence flip the sites, re-arrange the pages or manipulate them.

SpaceTime search currently supports Google, Google Images, Yahoo!, Yahoo! Images, Flickr, eBay, YouTube and others. For Google or Yahoo, SpaceTime can only show the image found but not the webpage containing it. On hardware requirements, SpaceTime needs a somewhat powerful system configuration–512MB of RAM, a 3D graphics card with 128MB of onboard memory, and a screen resolution of at least 1280 by 1024.

Once after installed the add-on, users need to restart the Firefox browsers in order to use its new features. Not to worry even when you are in the midst of browsing as it will restore all the previous opened websites after the restart.

Block Porn via OpenDNS

Porn has a negative impact on kids. Exposure to pornography for young and immature kids or adolescents will create unhealthy sexual behavior and attitudes amongst them. Parents can do something about this problem. There are some security methods discussed here that can help parents to block adult sites in their home PC/notebooks.

One of the easy ways that parents can consider is using the adult site blocking service by OpenDNS. OpenDNS allows users to filter out porn sites without installing any software or adding any additional hardware. This service works on a network level, and it can easily be deployed across any operating system or network.

To use this service, you need to sign into OpenDNS and create a free account. Subsequently you need to change the DNS settings on your PC and register your Internet address with OpenDNS. Once it is done, go to the Network page and check the boxes for the categories that you want to filter. Basically there are six categories that users can choose to block:

a. Lingerie/bikini - Sites displaying or dedicated to lingerie/bikini that could be considered adult-viewing only.

b. Nudity - Sites that provide images or representations of nudity.

c. Pornography - Anything relating to pornography, including mild depiction, soft pornography or hard-core pornography.

d. Sexuality - Sites that provide information, images or implications of bondage, sadism, masochism, fetish behaviour, beating, body piercing or self-mutilation.

e. Tasteless - Sites that contain information on such subjects as mutilation, torture, horror or the grotesque.

f. Adult-themed - Sites that are adult in nature and are not defined in other ratings category.

After you have made your selection, just reboot your PC. OpenDNS will thence filter suspicious porn site at the domain name system level.

Your removable device such as USB pen drive could contain a lot of files, database and even some standalone apps. Without proper organization and arrangement, it might take you some time to seek for a particular file or program when you need it urgently. To reorganize your messy storage device and house everything under a main menu for easy reference, SyMenu offer users a great help.

SyMenu is an USB application menu. Users can use this application menu to manage and organize their removable device properly. Users can customize SyMenu in a simple and quick way adding links to portable programs, files, Windows commands, folders and urls. However, users need to make sure all the linked items have to reside on the same USB stick or disk even if Symenu supports links to absolute path (such as C:\Windows\Explorer.exe).

SyMenu is a FREE application and it runs well on Windows 2000, XP, 2003 Server, Vista, 2008 Server, Windows 7 beta (both 32bit and 64bit versions). Users need to have .NET Framework 2.0 or higher in order for SyMenu to run without error. Without .NET Framework 2.0 or higher installed, Windows will prompt users with an error message to tell users that the application cannot be installed.

Summary of SyMenu’s functions:

Start Search bar: (Windows Vista like) allows users to quickly search amongst any SyItem configured on menu;
Windows Start Menu wrapper: SyMenu exposes through Start Search bar every program linked in host PC Windows Start menu too;
Extension Manager: allows users to temporarily replace normal Windows extension associations with SyMenu custom extension association;
Autoexec: allows users to launch a SyItem custom list at SyMenu startup.
SyFolder: allows users to organize their SyItem in a hierarchical way

Windows uses 20% of your bandwidth! Get it back

A nice little tweak for XP. Microsoft reserve 20% of your available bandwidth for their own purposes (suspect for updates and interrogating your machine etc..)

Here's how to get it back:

Click Start-->Run-->type "gpedit.msc" without the "

This opens the group policy editor. Then go to:

Local Computer Policy-->Computer Configuration-->Administrative Templates-->Network-->QOS Packet Scheduler-->Limit Reservable Bandwidth

Double click on Limit Reservable bandwidth. It will say it is not configured, but the truth is under the 'Explain' tab :

"By default, the Packet Scheduler limits the system to 20 percent of the bandwidth of a connection, but you can use this setting to override the default."

So the trick is to ENABLE reservable bandwidth, then set it to ZERO. This will allow the system to reserve nothing, rather than the default 20%.
works on XP Pro, and 2000 other OS not tested.
Does'nt work on winxp home

Automatic Downloading and Disconnecting

FOR DATAONE USERS
hey i recently figured out a method to start my bittorrent downloads automatically at 2am and end at 8am.......i'll tell u how to schedule the dial up and schedule a shutdown.....
i know many of u wake up at night destroy ur sleep just to be happy in the happy hours of BSNL Dataone........ ok now u can sleep cool.... here is how to schedule it......

STEP 1: fire up notepad, paste "rasdial "
eg. rasdial dataone_broadband mario_pant mario
this is the format... i mean without "" and <>
connection name is the name u see on the dialer...
now, save the file as "dialup.bat" in a new folder (eg. c:/dataone_sched)
just to make sure u dont overwrite something

STEP 2: make another file named "disconnect.bat" and type in it "rasdial /disconnect" (there is a space between rasdial and /disconnet and no "") and save it in that directory as the first file....

STEP 3:Goto Start>All Programs>Accesories>System Tool>Scheduled Tasks
when opened click on "Add scheduled task" click next (it will hang for a moment or two) then a list of progs will be displayed.. don't panic that ur files arn't listed.... click on browse and point to the dialup.bat file..... then set the schedule by following the instructions.... do the same for disconnect... give the time values correctly (ie. in my case 2:10AM to 7:50AM....the BSNL clock is 2 mins behind)......

STEP 4:"add scheduled task"> then chose the prog u wish to run from the list and follow the instructions....

in my case i use azureus.... azureus just starts up and starts downloading..... make sure u leave ur computer on or otherwise select "wake up compy to comp. this task" in the bottom of advanced settings....

if u use azureus the n make sure u check for updates before sleeping other wise if u make azureus start later it make ask for an intruction on updating if it fonds an update... another alternative is that u leave azureus on and just schedule the dialup and disconnect.......
actually this method is a bit insecure as ur username and password is displayed clearly in the .bat file..... but anyways this does the trick.....
make sure htat the torrent u want to download is on the red smiley when u are disconnected and eave the computer...... this method will definitely work on winXP...... can't say anything about the other OS......
Happy Downloading and a Sound Sleep

PS:DO TEST THE DIALUP AND DICONNECT SCHEDULING FIRST WITH AN INTERVAL OF ONE MINUTE OR SO JUST TO CHECK THAT THE DIALUP AND DISCONNECT ARE WOKING PROPERLY...... U CAN THEN RESCHEDULE THEM LATER!!!

This is a neat trick you can use on a Google Image search to filter the search results so that they include only images of people. How is this useful? Well, it could come in handy if you are looking for images of the prominent people behind popular products, companies, or geographic locations. You can perform this search by appending the code &imgtype=face to the end of the URL address after you perform a standard Google Image search.

Examples (notice the differences in each URL):

* Image Search for Google vs. Faces Behind Google Image Search.
* Image Search for Digg vs. Faces Behind Digg Image Search.

2. Google + Social Media Sites = Quality Free Stuff:
If you are on the hunt for free desktop wallpaper, stock images, Wordpress templates or the like, using Google to search your favorite social media sites is your best bet. The word “free” in any standard search query immediately attracts spam. Why wade through potential spam in standard search results when numerous social media sites have an active community of users who have already ranked and reviewed the specific free items that interest you. All you have to do is direct Google to search through each of these individual social media sites, and bingo… you find quality content ranked by hundreds of other people.

Examples:

* site:digg.com free “desktop wallpaper”
* site:reddit.com free “wordpress templates”
* site:stumbleupon.com free icons

3. Find Free Anonymous Web Proxies:
A free anonymous web proxy site allows any web browser to access other third-party websites by channeling the browser’s connection through the proxy. The web proxy basically acts as a middleman between your web browser and the third-party website you are visiting. Why would you want to do this? There are two common reasons:

* You’re connecting to a public network at a coffee shop or internet café and you want privacy while you browse the web. You don’t want the admin to know every site you visit.
* You want to bypass a web content filter or perhaps a server-side ban on your IP address. Content filtering is common practice on college campus networks. This trick will usually bypass those restrictions.

There are subscription services and applications available such as TOR and paid VPN servers that do the same thing. However, this trick is free and easy to access from anywhere via Google. All you have to do is look through the search results returned by the queries below, find a proxy that works, and enter in the URL of the site you want to browse anonymously.

* inurl:”nph-proxy.cgi” “start using cgiproxy”
* inurl:”nph-proxy.cgi” “Start browsing through this CGI-based proxy”

4. Google for Music, Videos, and Ebooks:
Google can be used to conduct a search for almost any file type, including Mp3s, PDFs, and videos. Open web directories are one of the easiest places to quickly find an endless quantity of freely downloadable files. This is an oldie, but it’s a goodie! Why thousands of webmasters incessantly fail to secure their web severs will continue to boggle our minds.

Examples:

* Find Music: -inurl: (htm|html|php) intitle:”index of” +”last modified” +”parent directory” +description +size +(wma|mp3) “Counting Crows”
* Find Videos: -inurl: (htm|html|php) intitle:”index of” +”last modified” +”parent directory” +description +size +(mpg|wmv) “chapelle”
* Find Ebooks: -inurl: (htm|html|php) intitle:”index of” +”last modified” +”parent directory” +description +size +(pdf|doc) “george orwell 1984?

5. Browse Open Webcams Worldwide:
Take a randomized streaming video tour of the world by searching Google for live open access video webcams. This may not be the most productive Google trick ever, but it sure is fun! (Note: you may be prompted to install an ActiveX control or the Java runtime environment which allows your browser to view certain video stream formats.)

Examples:
Axis Webcams: inurl:/view.shtml or inurl:view/index.shtml
Cannon Webcams: sample/LvAppl/
MOBOTIX Webcams: http://www.google.com/search?q=control/userimage.html&hl=en&filter=0&num=10&lr=all&cr=&source=ggsearch
FlexWatch Webcams: /app/idxas.html
JVC Webcams: intitle: intitle:”V.Networks [Motion Picture(Java)]”

6. Judge a Site by its Image:
Find out what a site is all about by looking at a random selection of the images hosted on its web pages. Even if you are somewhat familiar with the target site’s content, this can be an entertaining little exercise. You will almost surely find something you didn’t expect to see. All you have to do is use Google’s site: operator to target a domain in an image search.

Examples:

* Digg in Images
* Wired in Images
* Reddit in Images

7. Results Based on Third-Party Opinion:
Sometimes you can get a better idea of the content located within a website by reading how other websites refer to that site’s content. The allinanchor: Google search operator can save you large quantities of time when a normal textual based search query fails to fetch the information you desire. It conducts a search based on keywords used strictly in the anchor text, or linking text, of third party sites that link to the web pages returned by the search query. In other words, this operator filters your search results in a way such that Google ignores the title and content of the returned web pages, but instead bases the search relevance on the keywords that other sites use to reference the results. It can add a whole new dimension of variety to your search results.

Examples (notice the added variety between search results):

* allinanchor:”google hacks” vs. basic search for Google hacks
* allinanchor:”wordpress exploits” vs. basic search for Wordpress exploits

Bonus Material:

* link:URL = lists other pages that link to the URL.
* related:URL = lists other pages that are related to the URL.
* site:domain.com “search term = restricts search results to the given domain.
* allinurl:WORDS = shows only pages with all search terms in the url.
* inurl:WORD = like allinurl: but filters the URL based on the first term only.
* allintitle:WORD = shows only results with terms in title.
* intitle:WORD = similar to allintitle, but only for the next word.
* cache:URL = will show the Google cached version of the URL.
* info:URL = will show a page containing links to related searches, backlinks, and pages containing the url. This is the same as typing the url into the search box.
* filetype:SOMEFILETYPE = will restrict searches to that filetype
* -filetype:SOMEFILETYPE = will remove that file type from the search.
* site:www.somesite.net “+www.somesite.net” = shows you how many pages of your site are indexed by google
* allintext: = searches only within text of pages, but not in the links or page title
* allinlinks: = searches only within links, not text or title
* WordA OR WordB = search for either the word A or B
* “Word” OR “Phrase” = search exact word or phrase
* WordA -WordB = find word A but filter results that include word B
* WordA +WordB = results much contain both Word A and Word B
* ~WORD = looks up the word and its synonyms
* ~WORD -WORD = looks up only the synonyms to the word

BSNL GPRS Free !!

Hello friends,

Below given is a trick thought over by me, and it works on every bsnl mobile connection that has portal service activated.
The aim of this is to provide free internet access through portal service of bsnl.
So here are the steps to perform:-

Logic: the server has a major bug in it, by which it fails to block two simultaneous connections from the phone and establishes a connection with full internet working,

Supported devices: all phones with multichannel gprs support

For connection on your mobile phone:-

1) Make two connections like bsnlportal and BSNLPORTAL1

(names of profile don’t matter, u can keep one as billgates and shahrukhkhan lol..the basic purpose of names is to enable the user to differentiate between the two accounts,)

2) Select the application you got to have the full connection working on.
Surpassingly “web” now just select “bsnlportal” profile and select a link like wap.cellone.in the page will get open, just press the red button such that the “web” application goes in the background.
Make sure that the gprs connection is still established with the web app. Two parallel lines on the top left of the screen will confirm this

3) Now open any other app that requires web connection like opera. Select BSNLPORTAL and open any other link like wap.google.com, u will get error –

the aim of using the other app is to perform multi-channel gprs,
this is verified by seeing some dots on the pre-existing connection established by “web” (step 2)

“Access denied.

Technical description:
403 Forbidden - You are not allowed to communicate with the requested resource.”

4) close opera and open web and open a site like esato.com

5) if everything is done as said here then esato will load and voila! We have the whole internet!

For connection on pc.

1)create a connection and enter the number to be dialed as *99***1#

2) enter the following string as extra initialization command

AT+CGDCONT=1,"IP","celloneportal"

3)now dial from pc, the connection will be established

4)pick the phone and open “web” open “wap.cellone.in” the phone shows error .

5) close “web” and then from the browser open www.google.com
and voila! The whole intenet is here

6) thank shivam007

settings for profiles

apn: celloneportal
ip: 192.168.51.163
port : 8080

leave other fields blank as they are of the least concern!

the browser settings on pc too go the same as mentioned above!

N.B.:-I don't know how it works, if any one knows please help me.

Make Adobe Acrobat Reader 6 Faster

Here's how to do it:

1. Go to C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 6.0\Reader (replace the C if you installed on another drive, like I did).

2. Create a new folder called plug_ins_disabled.

3. Move all files from the plug_ins folder to the plug_ins_disabled folder except EWH32.api, printme.api, and search.api. There should only be these 3 files in the plug_ins folder.

4. You're done.

Make small MP3's without loosing quality

If you don't already have a copy of MusicMatch Jukebox, download one from musicmatch.com. The "Plus" version has more features and burns CDs faster, but the free version works just fine for converting files

1. Install music match box and then restart your computer if it asks
2. open music matchbox and click file convert files
3. in the bottom right hand corner called 'destination type' change it to mp3 pro.
4. you can edit the bitrate but the higher the bitrate the bigger the size
5. choose the songs you want to convert and click start

***if you want to try something different repeat step one and 2 and instead of making the destintion type mp3 pro make it 'mp3pro vbr' again the lower the setting the smaller the size.

This will reboot your computer and provide a benchmark
After the reboot, BootVis will take a minute or two to show graphs of your system startup.
Note how much time it takes for your system to load (click on the red vertical line)
Then run Trace / Optimize System
Re-Run the Next Boot + Drive Delays
Note how much the time has decreased
Mine went from approximately 33 to 25 seconds.

Increasing Graphics Performance

By default, WindowsXP turns on a lot of shadows, fades, slides etc to menu items.
Most simply slow down their display.

To turn these off selectively:

Right click on the My Computer icon
Select Properties
Click on the Advanced tab
Under Performance, click on the Settings button
To turn them all of, select Adjust for best performance
My preference is to leave them all off except for Show shadows under mouse pointer and Show

window contents while dragging

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Increasing System Performance

If you have 512 megs or more of memory, you can increase system performance
by having the core system kept in memory.

Start Regedit
Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory

Management\DisablePagingExecutive
Set the value to be 1
Reboot the computer

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Increasing File System Caching

To increase the amount of memory Windows will locked for I/O operations:

Start Regedit
Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory

Management
Edit the key IoPageLockLimit

Bootable FloppyDiscs to Boot into Windows

Tutorial Objective

In this tutorial, it will guide the user on how he/she is able to make a bootable floppy disc that can boot into Windows.

Tutorial Introduction & Background & Facts

Many people are able to boot into an Operating System without any problems. But in one day, what if the boot files that include NTLDR, Boot.ini, and Ntdetect.com[/] file are corrupted due to virus infected, you are not able to boot into the OS. You will end up with reinstalling and repairing the OS in order to be able to boot into the OS again. Doing so will take you a lot of time. Therefore, in this tutorial, it will teach the user how to make the bootable floppy disc that can boot into Windows. So, when the user encounter the OS booting in the future due to boot files corruption, they are still able to boot into the OS and repair the OS bootup in less than a minute.

Pre-requites Tools

* A blank floppy disc

* A PC with running Windows 2000 series, Windows XP series, or 2003 series

Terminology & Explanation

(None)

Implementation

This tutorial and its procedure will guide the user on how he/she make the bootable floppy disc that can boot into Windows so that he/she is able to boot into Windows eventhough the Windows bootup is corrupted. All you have to do,

1-1) Go to [i]My Computer

1-2) Make sure that you unhide hidden system file in order for you to see the OS boot file

If you know how to unhide the hidden system, you can skip the following procedures to procedure # 2-1. Otherwise continue on with the following procedure.

1-3) Go to Tools menu, and choose Folder Options...

1-4) Go to the View tab

1-5) Under the Hidden files and folders, choose the option that says, "Show hidden files and folders"

1-6) Uncheck the checkbox that says, "Hide extensions for known file types"

1-7) Uncheck the checkbox that says, "Hide protected operating system files (Recommended)"

When the message box appears on the screen, just click the OK button to continue.

1-8 ) Click the OK button to continue

Now you should be able to see all the hidden files and the hidden system files.

2-1) Insert the blank floppy disc into the floppy drive

In order to be able to make the bootable floppy disc, you will have to first format it.

2-2) Go to Command Prompt (In Windows mode, that means Start -> Run -> cmd)

2-3) Change to A Drive (Floppy Drive) by typing the following in the Command Prompt and hit [Enter] key:

CODE
a:

2-4) After you change to A Drive in Command Prompt, format the floppy disc by typing the following in the Command Prompt and then press [Enter] key and follow the prompt:

CODE
format a:

Now the formatting floppy disc begins. When the formatting process completed,

2-5) Go back to My Computer

2-6) Go to the primary partition of the primary HDD (that means C Drive)

2-7) Copy all the following files from C Drive into A Drive (Floppy drive)

NTLDR
Boot.ini
Ntdetect.com

NTLDR, Boot.ini, and Ntdetect.com file are the boot files that are required to boot into the OS.

Once you copied those boot files into the A Drive (Floppy Drive), you just created the bootable floppy disc that can boot into Windows. Now you will have to verify it to see if booting from floppy disc works. Before you do that, it is recommended that you take the floppy disc out and set it to write-protected; therefore, your floppy disc is set to read-only. Doing that can prevent that any virus goes onto the floppy disc. After you do that, put that floppy back in.

3-1) Reboot the PC and enter the mobo BIOS setting

3-2) Verify the Boot Sequence to make sure that the Floppy Drive is set to first boot.

3-3) Save and exit the BIOS setting to reboot the system.

Once the system reboots, after the POST process, the system will boot from the floppy drive. If the system is able to boot from the floppy disc and enter to Windows, that means your bootable floppy disc for booting into Windows is working. Be sure that you label the floppy disc and put it in the safe place just for in case of that you need that to troubleshoot the Windows bootup in the future.

Benefical

* So that the user can enjoy the new method for troubleshooting the Windows bootup

* The user is able to boot into the OS by using that bootable floppy disc in case of that the Windows cannot bootup anymore due to the NTLDR is missing or corrupted error message.

* Users can spend their less time to troubleshoot and repair the Windows bootup. To repair the Windows bootup, boot from that bootable floppy drive, and then go to the C Drive (Active Partition from primary partition of primary HDD from My Computer applet. Then copy all bootup files from Floppy Disc into C Drive.

Webpage Font Consistant and Uniform

Is it disturbing to you when every other Web page you visit has a different font size?. One web page's font is too small, and another web page's fonts are too big.
Well here's a way to fix that and set each web page's fonts to just the size you want.

In Internet Explorer, select: Tools-Internet Options, choose the General tab, click the Accessibility button, and check Ignore font sizes specified on Web pages (the wording varies depending on your IE version).

In Netscape 6 and 7, choose Edit-Preferences, select Fonts (double-click Appearance if you don't see 'Fonts' listed), and then either check Use my default fonts or uncheck Allow documents to use other fonts, depending on your version (the wording of these choices also varies).

Now all Web page fonts should be of uniform size on all pages.

Free phone calls using the GA628

This trick has only been reported working on PREPAID GSM CARDS and in some countries and with some sw versions.
The prepaid GSM SIM CARD is a kind of "SIM card" which only has a sertant amount of credit on it (like a normal phonebox telecard)... if it can be traced? - we don't know...

Well..here's the trick you dial the no. normally and press YES. While "connecting" is shown on the screen, the following procedure should be carried out: Press CLR then 0 then # and then NO (twice) so as to switch OFF the phone. You can then still speak on the phone while it is switched off but the SIM card does not record your calls which will lead to FREE phone calls in some countries.. we hope!!

Another variant of the code

Make a Call, while the phone says Connecting type 083# (the position 83 must be empty! ), when phone says Pos Emtpy, press the NO key and turn off the phone.

If you can make the call with the phone turned off you will face a problem when you need to hang up the phone...the only way for you to do that is remove the battery...???
